Accreditation

The University of Kentucky Landscape Architecture Program has been accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) since 1978. Our current accreditation is effective through 2027. We are the only accredited landscape architecture degree program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

All LAAB accredited programs are required to provide current and accurate information to the public. Programs must report accreditation status, cost of attendance, graduation and employment rates, as well as demographic information. The point of such documentation is to help potential students make informed decisions.

Cost of Attendance

See the total estimated expense to attend UK, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

Landscape Architecture students pay a $75 studio fee each semester (excepting fall of year one). That $75 is loaded into a printing account for that student to use.

Landscape Architecture students are also required to purchase a studio kit in their first year (trace paper, markers, rulers, etc.). The kit will need replenishment on occasion, but it is intended to provide students the necessary tools for subsequent studios in the curriculum.

In addition to the studio kit, Landscape Architecture students will need to purchase a computer capable of doing advance graphic work. See the Computer & Software Requirements document for more details.

Licensure and Accreditation

To protect public health and safety, landscape architecture is regulated by all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Across the nation, licensure involves a university degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program and passage of the national Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE).
