Event Description

Thomas Woltz is visiting the University of Kentucky and will give a lecture on Friday, April 24 from 5–6pm in the Biagi Forum of the Gray Design Building.

Thomas Woltz, Senior Principal of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW), leads the firm in the creation and revitalization of notable public landscapes across the country and around the world. His work explores the intersection of culture and ecology, uncovering the layered histories embedded within the land.

In his campus lecture, Woltz will share a broad overview of NBW’s work and how their research-driven design process can transform landscapes—from complex urban sites such as New York’s Hudson Yards and historical sites such as Monticello to large-scale conservation projects—and repair ecological systems while reconnecting people to place.

Many thanks to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill for bringing Thomas to the area as part of their Architectural Symposium.
